Hysek, the resolutely contemporary watch brand created in 1997 by the eponymous designer, was bought in 2000 by the businessman who is today its CEO. Akram Aljord, a French national born in the Middle East, studied architecture at Bordeaux before embarking upon a professional career, some 35 years ago, in the luxury sector. After interludes in perfumes, cosmetics and ready-to-wear, he discovered jewellery and watchmaking, for which he developed a real passion. For several years Akram Aljord helped to develop a watchmaking and jewellery group before joining Roger Dubuis, of which he was a shareholder, in 1999.
At the turn of the millennium, on the strength of extensive experience and the many contacts he had made in the world of fine watchmaking, Akram Aljord decided to become proprietor of the Hysek brand.
