After completing his studies in the political sciences faculty of the University of Strasbourg in France and St. Gallen University in Switzerland, where he earned a diploma in business economics, Georges Kern began his career in the consumer goods sector as brand manager for Kraft Foods Switzerland. He was introduced to the world of watchmaking through TAG Heuer, and joined the Richemont group in 2000. Georges Kern was with the group when it bought IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre and A. Lange & Söhne (Les Manufactures Horlogères – LMH) from German group Mannesmann, before taking over as manager of IWC.
He was appointed the brand’s CEO in 2002, at the age of 36.
