We are delighted to announce that Aurel Bacs is the latest watchmaking expert to join our team of renowned contributors. Through his experience at Christie’s he is one of the most authoritative voices on watch collecting and auctions. Who better, therefore, to review last month’s Geneva watch auctions in his debut article for Worldtempus?

Although there is still a while to wait to see the submissions for this year’s Grand Prix de l’Horlogerie de Genève (the deadline is 23rd June), we started our regular column dedicated to this year’s awards with a video interview with Stéphane Linder, CEO of TAG Heuer, at Geneva airport on the day he was leaving for the Monaco Grand Prix. We asked him about the impact that winning the Grand Prix has had on the brand. Look out for more interviews with past winners over the coming weeks.

Our product coverage had a decidedly feminine touch last week, with Marie de Pimodan-Bugnon examining the trend for cuff watches for ladies and Nazanin Lankarani taking a closer look at Chaumet’s hydrangea-inspired floral collection. The men, meanwhile, were out and about: Kristian Haagen had a chat with A. Lange & Söhne’s CEO Wilhelm Schmid at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este, while Miguel Seabra reported directly from the Roland Garros tournament on why Longines’ official timekeeping role took on an unexpected significance in the closing week of the tournament.
